Beware of buying natural "Shell" pearls

okayers should be careful when buying pearls with this listing. Some sellers make it sound like they are selling salt water cultured pearls like Tahitian or South Sea when in reality what they are sellling are faux pearls. They use a bead made of shell and coat it with a man made or syntheticnacre which gives it the appearance of a fine pearl. In most cases they are sold quite cheaply but if the buyer thinks they are getting a deal on real cultured pearls they are in fora shock when they try to get them appraised. Contacting the seller usually results in being told that they are natural pearls, only when pressed will they admit the truth and even then they still try to make the case thatsince theshell is natural, the pearl is a natural pearl.
