To Upgrade Not to Upgrade - EQ 6 vs EQ 5
The electric quilt gepany software is in my opinion the best software available to quilters. I purchased EQ5 about 9 months ago and have been using it constantly. However EQ5 left a little to be desired. It seemed to me, as a former applications programmer, that they designed the software, and as they were developing it, kept geing up with more ideas to make it better and tacking them on. It is functionally adequate, and has a lot of great features for quilt design, but has a few issues that make it a little less user friendly.
I debated getting the EQ6 upgrade. I didnt really want to spend the extra money right now, and since EQ5 was getting the job done, I didnt see the point. However, I got some money for my birthday and went for it. That was the best thing I did! I bought two software upgrades, Adobe Photoshop Element 5.0 (upgraded from 2.0) and EQ6 Upgrade (from EQ5). The EQ6isterrific! They have made it a much more unified, user friendly program. It is much easier to understand and use, as well as having some really great new features, like fabric rotation and the ability to import more than just BMP files. The Graphics are tons better, and the program overall seems to run much smoother and more efficiently.
I decided that I needed to tell others about the product upgrade, as I was hesitant myself since I liked EQ5. I love EQ6. I highly regemend purchasing the upgrade if you already have EQ5 installed on your geputer.
The upgrade is a full version of the program and application it just makes sure that EQ5 is on your hard drive before it will install, so you have to keep both disks in case you need to reinstall. However, for price (75.00 off), hanging on to an extra disk doesnt seem like a big deal.
