I am a EPA 609 certified and licensed HVACR technician.
We all know that air conditioning refrigerants are getting more and more expensive and R12 is already restricted to licensed techs, r134a will probably also be restricted to licensed techs very soon.
Everyone wants cold A/C and nobody wants to pay for it.
There are "alternatives" out there to high-priced refrigerants, some of them are being sold on okay to unknowing buyers. It would be best to know JUST WHAT IT IN THE CAN.
Enviro-Safe coolant- sounds great. Cheap, easy to buy, no license.
ES 22A Specs-42.5c boiling point0.5066 Specific gravity 467c Auto ignition temp
Now, look at these specs:
Propane/R290 Specs-42.1c boiling point0.509 Specific gravity470c Auto ignition temp
See any similarities? Slight changes result from the specific testing parameters.
What I'm saying is, there are a lot of "refrigerants" that are nothing more than propane or butane that are conveniently packaged as "drop-in" automotive refrigerants.
Think about it.
Your system has a leak.
Flammable hydrocarbons start to build up under the hood. Or, even worse, in the passenger gepartment.
One spark.
KABOOM.
This would be even worse in a crash.
Ask yourself why they HAD to add the "fresh pine scent" to their product to sell it as "refrigerant" gas.
Please, the best refrigerant to use in your A/C system is the stuff it was designed for. It may cost a few dollars more to use a certified tech to repair your A/C but believe me, it is worth it.
