Price tag label gun guide

The most important advice we can give if you are considering purchasing a label gun is to buy new and buy a name brand ! you can hardly go wrong with any of the major manufactures. The major manufacturers of label guns are Dennison / Sato , Garvey / Contact , Meto / Primark , Monarch / Paxar , Motex and Towa .
Before purchasing a label gun make sure you have a source for labels and ink rollers. Always double check the make and model number on your labeler before ordering labels and ink rollers.
Be careful when buying labels ! Labels need to be stored in temperatures of 60 degrees to 75 degrees Fahrenheit and a relative humidity of about 50%. The last thing you need is to purchase labels that have been sitting in some hot garage for several years.
The are plenty of used label guns on the market, but if you purchase a used labeler you are taking a chance of getting a labeler that has stretched springs, worn feed mechanisms, brittle bands or the labeler will not work at all. On some older models the labels , ink roller and spare parts can be very difficults to find.
Another thing to consider is how many lines you need and how many characters you need per line. Most labelers have between 6 and 10 characters per line with 8 characters being the most popular.
A one line labeler with 8 characters can be used for pricing ($2005.00 ) , inventory control (12345678) or if it has the correct band set-upthey be used for date coding (07 04 05). Price range for a quality one line label gun is $30.00- $90.00.
A two line labeler with 8 charcters per line can be used forlet say inventory control on the top line (12345678) and then pricing ($2005.00) on the bottom line or vise versa. Price range for a quality two line labeler is $55.00- $150.00.
A three line labeler gives you a third line for additional information. These are for more specialized operations and generally cost between $200.00 and $300.00.
Lately there has been a flood of cheeap label guns on the market. While these may be fine for occasional use, they just won't stand up to the rigors of everyday use.
Many of the sellers of these cheap disposable label guns are stating that these labelers are ISO (International Organization for Standardization)certified..........this is not true !!!
Beware of the Motex copies that are being sold, some of these cheap copies even have the Motex name on them ! They make look the same, but the quality is not even close and they are not ISO certified !
Motex labelers are manufactured under a quality control system that has won ISO 9001 and KS A9001 certifications. Motex products are crafted to meet the most stringent requirements for quality, durabilty and ease of operation.
How to tell if you have received a Motex counterfeit label gun:
There will be no ISO certification on the back of the box. Thre will be no registered trademark logo () after the Motex name on the box or after the Motex nameon the label gun.
We hope this guide has been helpful.
